Used Tig Welders
TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welders are one of the most common welders around. They were originally made to weld
aircraft structures, and now days are used by many professional welders. TIG welders may be used with our without a
filler metal, many like them because of its non consumable electrode and the inert gas to use that protects the
weld.
Being a particular type of hand welding, the Used TIG Welders use a non consumable electrode and shielding gas.
These must be inert so they do not interact with the welding process. With most other electrode welding will work
by channeling the electrical current through a metal tip of the electrode. Then it arcs over to the metal, giving
enough heat to melt the steel.
New TIG welders’ verses Used TIG Welders is all about the budget and what they will be used for. A new one will
start at around a thousand dollars and can go up to over twenty thousand dollars. With a TIG Welder AC/DC Econotig
one would pay around two thousand dollars new where as buying a Used TIG Welder they would pay about fifteen
hundred, so there is a bit of a savings.
This type of Used TIG Welder is for the novice, one that is just starting out in welding. The AC part is for
welding aluminum welding and the DC part is for mild steel. There are also less expensive welders that many new
welders will buy just to start out with, to get their feet wet sort of speak.
Professional welders will advise one that is looking for Used TIG Welders to buy directly from either the owner
or from a reputable dealer. There are people that will buy them on line but they probably know what to look for.
And the shipping will add up as well buying on line because of the sheer weight of the welder. Although some
dealers that sell them will offer free shipping and handling, it is still good to actually see the welder. But most
advise to go and actually see the welder in person. This way, it allows one to feel and maybe use the Used TIG
Welders, to see if this is the one they want.
Be sure when buying Used TIG Welders make sure that everything is working properly. Some welding shops will sell
their welders that were for promotional sales, floor models at a considerable low price, and call them used as that
is what they are. If you are buying from an individual be sure to get all of the paper work that came with the
welder if possible. Some manufactures will have manuals that you can download from the internet if the owner does
not have them. Also check for a warranty, sometimes there is still one left on the welder and make sure it is
transferable.
If buying online remember, some dealers will only sell the higher voltage Used TIG Welders that are for
industrial use, not for the home welder or hobbyist. Be sure to buy a welder that fits your needs and the
environment.
